The project

Construction of the 57 steel balconies of the new housing development in King’s Cross (London). The project stands as the redevelopment of the former industrial area of King’s Cross, where the disused gasholders are being redesigned into premium housing units by Wilkinson Eyre.

“Wilkinson Eyre’s design transforms the Victorian gasometers into 145 residential flats, built within the three structural frames of the Gasholders, reclaimed as elegant frames. The cylinders have different heights to commemorate their original function, which was to increase or decrease their external dimensions as the volume stored inside varied”.
