The project
Metalsan staff were involved in the construction of the new unified headquarters of the municipality of Bologna, according to a design by Mario Cucinella.
Metalsan specifically produces 160 tonnes of steelwork for the free-form steel roof of the building.
“A gridded metal “sail” is deployed on the roof to bring shade to the south-facing walls; it is made of Ø 180 mm tubular bars, framed with clamps over the coupling of two boxed IPE 450 beams that have a load-bearing function.”
